Juan José Varela Tembra holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics (University of Murcia), an MA in English Philology (University of Santiago de Compostela), a BA in Religious Sciences (Pontifical University of Salamanca), a BA in Early Childhood Education (Camilo José Cela University) and a BA in TEFL for Primary Education (University of Santiago de Compostela). He was a postgraduate student at Middlebury College (USA) and a Spanish language and culture assistant at the Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco (Portugal). Since 2002 he has taught English language and literature and Applied Linguistics at the Theological Institute in Santiago de Compostela. He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Ljubljana (2009) and at the University of Reading (2008). His research interests lie in the fields of cultural and sexual identity issues in ELT, existential competence, ELT teacher training, and Spanish as a Foreign/Second Language. He has published in Hispania Journal, RLA, the Reading Matrix, Porta Linguarum, International Journal of Learning, MacMillan, Visor, etc. He has been a full-time researcher in teacher training projects of the European Commission and the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

PROFESSOR AND RESEARCHER

Isabel S. Carvalho is an Associate Professor at the Military Academy, in Lisbon. She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering and the MSc and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon. Her early research interests included combustion, energy production and efficiency, pollutant emissions, optical diagnostic techniques, fuel injectors and complex flows. Following a year at the aeronautics industry in France where she was involved in the promotion of research and industry knowledge transfer, she has, for the last 20 years, integrated into her research interests teaching and learning methodologies and effective communication in engineering.

Education and Training is presently at the core of her research work with a strong focus on the design and promotion of active, collaborative, inquiry and project-based learning as well as blended and online teaching and learning in engineering education.  She has implemented and tested several pedagogical methodologies and technical tools in order to promote a more efficient, interactive and independent learning through the interaction with Society and Real Case Industry/Business applications, assessment and evaluation.

Her active involvement in national and international cooperation programmes and projects was an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the different trends both in the EU and the USA and to further develop a strong ability to work in multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environments. Her wide experience in engineering education research led her to embrace inter-disciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches to accommodate critical thinking, new challenges, transversal skills and competencies.

PROFESSOR AND RESEARCHER

Romiro G. Bautista serves as the International Relations Officer of Quirino State University, Philippines. Prior to this designation, he served as the University Director for Instruction; University Director for Research and Development, Editor-in-Chief of Research Journals, Research Coordinator, Science Coordinator, and Project Leader and Staff of funded projects at Quirino State University. He is Director for Research, Planning, and Publication at Cagayan Valley Computer and Information Technology College; Research Coordinator and Subject Area Coordinator at AMA International University-Bahrain. His research interests include science education, communication strategies in science, anthropomorphism and teleology, e-learning, higher education, transnational education. Moreover, he is a fellow of the ASEAN Young Scientist Network and an alumnus of the AYSN-Science Leadership Program. He is also an Associate Member of the National Research Council of the Philippines in 2017 and eventually elected as a Regular Member in 2021. He has published at least 51 research articles out of his professional leaps as a faculty-researcher inside Philippines and abroad; 2 of which are indexed in the Web of Science-Clarivate analytics; 16 of which are indexed in SCOPUS, 24 are indexed to leading international indexing bodies, and 9 are indexed to local indexing body in the Philippines. He earned a total of 176 citations and h-index and i10 index of 7, respectively, through Google scholar account (https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=VEZbdGcAAAAJ Romiro has mentored a number of undergraduate and graduate students in Philippines and abroad (educational, social, and wet-research), and received awards as Best Thesis Advisor. He also handles groups on collaborative research both internal and external; he’s an active editorial board member of various international research journals and peer reviewers of various research organizations in Philippines and abroad.

Iris Klosi (Kokoli) is a full time senior lecturer at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Foreign Languages, English Department since 2000. In 2003-2005 she was a part-time lecturer in translation at the State University of Tetovo, North Macedonia. She completed her graduate studies with excellent results at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Foreign Languages, English Department in 1996-2000 and is a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in British and American Studies. She defended her university degree thesis: “Crime, Truth and Morality in Iris Murdoch´s Novels” under the mentorship of Prof.Dr. Refik Kadija. In 2005 she graduated with a Master of Science Degree (MSc) in Applied Linguistics/Translation with the Master Thesis:“Translation Criticism Aspects of Arthur Miller´s Play “The Crucible” in Albanian” under the mentorship of Prof.Dr. Viktor Ristani. In 2012 she graduated with a Doctor of Science Degree (DSc) in Applied Linguistics/Translation with the dissertation “Aspects of Translation Criticism into Albanian and Stage Performance of Some British and American Plays”having on the focus Arthur Miller´s plays “The Crucible”, “Death of a Salesman” and “Incident at Vichy” and George Bernard Shaw´s “Pygmalion”, “Widower´s Houses”and “The Devil´s Disciple”, under the mentorship of Prof.Dr. Viktor Ristani. Since 2000 she teaches courses on: British Studies, Translation and Translation Criticism with third year bachelor degree students, Translation and Interpretation B-A-B, Translation of Terminology, Culture B (British Culture), Interpretation C – A, with students of first and second year of Master Degree in Translation and Communication. Since 2003 she has participated in many trainings such as: University of Westminster, London, UK, US Department of State, American Embassy, etc. In 2003 she participated as a researcher and co-author in British Council´s Project “Baseline Study on English Teaching in Albania” under the lead of Professor Tony Luxon, University of Lancaster, England. In 2019 she performed a teaching mobility at Kodolányi János University, Budapest Hungary. In 2021 she was selected by Kodolányi János University, Budapest, Hungary for a staff training mobility. Since 2019 she is a member of the editorial board of Freeside Europe Scientific Journal, Budapest Hungary. Since 2020 she is the Albanian Local Coordinator for Transmission Project under the EU programme Creative Europe. Since 2001 she has participated in more than thirty scientific national and international conferences. Many of her papers and articles have been published in Impact Factor and Scopus Indexed Journals. She has performed various literary translations such as Rudyard Kipling´s “The Jungle Book” and Mark Twain´s “Huckleberry Finn”; David Foster Williams´s “All That”; John Ashbery´s eighteen poems. She is an official translator at the Ministry of Justice, Republic of Albania. She has a broad cooperation network in translation and interpretation with line ministries, national and international organizations such as: Albanian Helsinki Committee, Médecins Sans Frontières, Headhunter Group Albania, AEDP/SOROS, UNESCO, IUCN, ICOMOS, EU-IPA, Council of Europe, UNDP, USAID, etc. She has been a member of organizing committees for various national and international scientific conferences. In 2021 she was a member of the working group for the Strategy of Internationalization drafted and developed by the University of Tirana, Faculty of Foreign Languages. She is in the process of being awarded with “Associate Professor” Academic Title.

Arburim Iseni is proud to be working as an English Morphology and Academic Writing Professor at the University of Tetova since 1999. He is an experienced editor of many international journals with a demonstrated history of working in the research industry. He is very skillful in Intercultural Communication, Translation, Foreign Languages, Lecturing, and Editing. He is also a strong media and communication professional with a Doctor of Philological Sciences focused in Applied Linguistics: Second Language Acquisition from Southeast European University – Tetovo.
